IEN Business Clinic : Law Clinic with T&A Legal was a programme organised by the firm in collaboration with Ibadan Entrepreneurs Network (IEN) to enlighten Small Scale business entrepreneurs about the legal consequences of any business transactions undertaken by them. The programme was scheduled on 11th August, 2018.

Mr. Tolu Olatunji, a senior counsel gave a detailed lecture on Law of Contract Essentials. He spoke emphatically on the implication of contracts, the duties and rights of parties, types of contract, elements to look out for in every contract. He also highlighted on why a lawyer is needed in making and reviewing contracts. Furthermore, he adumbrated on the importance of Dispute Resolution clauses, reviewing loan agreements, relevance of non-compete clause, confidentiality agreements and the disadvantages of a Memorandum of Understanding among other things.

He advised strongly on the need to enter into a written contract to protect the parties and to ensure performance of the specified obligations. He also used several real time illustrations to further illuminate legal concepts and improve their understanding and practicability in real time.

He noted the disadvantages of not entering into the right contracts as issues of enforceability and interpretation might be detrimental to the parties involved. He then concluded with the importance of getting a lawyer’s services prior to contracts so as to mitigate or totally avoid post-contract disputes.

Afterwards, there was a tea break and a networking session. Following from that, there was a break-out session for a clinical diagnosis with some of the attendees and the lawyers in the firm listened to real time issues of individuals and offered free advisory services to them.
